I have a bad habit of back-tracking on myself when it comes to tech.
A few months back when Samsung declared that the S6 would come with no removable battery and microSD card, I was all but ready to give up on the S6 and move on to another brand - probably the Nexus line.
But I've done it again. Got too caught up in the tech and now I find myself the owner of an S6 Edge.
It's a damn gorgeous phone. There's no two bits about it.
This is not a review. I'll leave that to the tech websites.
I'm just sharing how the S6 Edge feels like in the hands of a normal user.
Size
It's small and light. Coming from a Note 3, it is almost too small, I am still trying to get accustomed to the smaller screen size. It is however so much easier to slip into a pocket without any discernible bulge.
Battery
One of the concerns prior to buying the phone was a worry about the S6's battery. Would it last the day, seeing as how Samsung saddled the S6 series with a smaller battery than the S5 and definitely smaller than the Note 3. I have to say, I have been left impressed by the S6 Edge's battery.
1) It might be smaller in size but it charges up damn quickly. Numerous videos on YouTube show it charging from 1% to 100% in about an hour and 10 mins and I can verify that that is true in real life usage.
2) My Note 3 used to last me through the day but leaving the home at 6.30am and getting home by about 6pm would leave me on the edge of running dry. The S6 Edge was still purring along at 45% at 6pm.
Am I turning off services to get battery life like this?
Wifi was left on, Location services (GPS) was left on. Only Bluetooth was not switched on but I'll try that out tomorrow. (yet to link the S6 Edge to my smartwatch)
As it stands, I am not going to miss my removable battery - I'll bring along a portable battery for those extended trips away from home.
Camera
Way better than what I've become accustomed to on the Note 3. Optical stabilization works wonders.
Will post up some photos once I have the time.
Fluidity of the OS
Definitely improved on previous versions of TouchWiz and combined with a better processor, everything feels buttery smooth.
Wireless Charging
Yay!
Fingerprint scanner
On point and easy to use. Never looking back, never ever going back to a passcode or pattern lock.
Is there anything else I've failed to talk about?
