Lost your phone?

Today Google rolled out a new service which makes finding your Android phone a whole lot easier.

It used to be that you needed to have Android Device Manager installed on your phone and setup before you could locate it.

No longer! All you have to do now is head over to Google and type into its search bar, "find my phone". I've also found that "where is my phone" works too.

And voila! The location of your phone will be displayed on a map as if it were a search result. I did have to key in my Google password before it would show me the search results.

You'll then have the further option of ringing the phone to help you locate its exact location. Unfortunately if you want to do more than ring your phone, i.e. wipe your phone, you'll still need Android Device Manager

The only caveat for this to work is that you should have the main Google app on your phone. Not really an issue if you're signed into the Google ecosystem.
