S6 Edge: A Pic A Day - Day 29

Samsung phones have often been guilty of oversaturation of colours ... This temple with a lot of reds provided a great opportunity to test it out. Conclusion? I'll leave that for you to decide.

The brightness of the lanterns in broad daylight did draw me to the temple.

S6 Edge: A Pic A Day - Day 28

Snail mail. How many of us out there still use it anymore or has it become a receptacle for bills and flyers?

I still recall a time when mail was even collected on Saturdays.

Introducing our furry family member ... wanted to see how well the camera could track him while he was being active but he was exhausted :)

DSLR or CSC

It's been 6 years since I've bought my camera, a Canon 500D and I've been plenty pleased by it but recently I've been struck by an urge to upgrade - an irrational urge but an urge nonetheless.

I do understand that times have changed and that Canon is no longer the leader it once was - in fact it's been playing catchup in recent times. That said though I've bought into their lens system and wasn't looking to switch camps - had my eyes set on the 760D. Still do.

I was sitting around and got to wondering though. On several of my recent trips, I had gotten really lazy to the extent that I left the DSLR in the hotel room and only went with my smartphone. These were shopping trips or visits to amusement parks where I wasn't expecting to capture great shots and mobility was of more importance. It got me thinking if it was time to switch to a compact camera system (CSC).

Doing a little reading up on the web seemed to indicate that the choice should be an Olympus OM-D E-M1 or slightly down the scale OM-D E-M5 Mark II. Every article I read only seemed to add to the confusion though as to which camera to get. I guess I have to read more!

At the moment, if I stick with Canon, I only need to get the 760D body and have lenses to fall back on. If I switch to CSC and go with Olympus, it's a larger outlay and I'd have to get rid of my Canon gear. Or do I?

Decisions, decisions, decisions.

S6 Edge: A Pic A Day - Day 18

It's Labour Day in Singapore and that means several sites that are usually closed to the public open their doors for the day. The plan was to visit the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station (my first time there!) in the morning, hit a dim sum spot for lunch before ambling over to the Istana.

The visit to the Istana had to be postponed though till the next public holiday as there was a long queue just to get in and we had no wish to barbeque ourselves in the sun.

Only the tracks at the station have not been removed.

You wouldn't guess it but an expressway lies to the left of that structure.
